I am a first time prospective homebuyer and was interested in Lennar Astoria, San Jose. I was on top of the list and was ready with a price of $611K for the townhouse. After keeping me in dark for 2 months, suddenly Lennar bumped up the price to $637K with their own...

Lennar - Staff Review from Williamsburg, Virginia

Be aware that your Lennar Sales Associate does not speak for Lennar. Every promise our sales associate made was ultimately rejected by Lennar Corporate. If you must buy a house from Lennar, get EVERYTHING in writing. Truth is foreign to them.

I have to agree. The sales agent will say anything to close on a house and after you are in, Lennar will tell you that the sales agent's word doesn't hold them to anything.

The do everything and anything to wear you down until you finally stop complaining. If you really want to buy here trust no one from Lennar and get a real estate attorney to put everything in writing.

We also bought a Lennar home in Reno, in 2006 and have had problems since Day 1. Stucco cracked and fell off in sheets, Lennar would patch over it without removing old stucco. This happened for several years before we finally had to hire an independent contractor...

I sound like every other complaint here......same old story..... I wished I had used a custom builder and spent a little more money. I probably saved $50K off of the custom home we wanted to build but I know it would have been a MUCH better home and investment. The...

Lennar - Cheap homes

Every home our neighborhood have mold, made incorrect, cheap material and lots of other problems. There are lawsuits galore with these fraudulent company. $450,000 home was really like $40,000. Never again will I purchase a Lennar home, neither will my family and friends. I should of done my homework before purchasing our home. What a mistake. They profit a lot off the little people. It's sad. They don't care for you, they just love the money. It's nothing but lies and lies. They will tell you anything so you can purchase there *** homes. I hope this is one hundred words.

You don't do your homework then you get what you pay for. A lot of these track builders put up a nice looking home but due to schedule corners can be cut and sub's are paid lower for volume work.

This means it could be the sub's not doing their job or the supers in the field verifying the work being over worked. I am sure there are some that try to do a good job.

My guess is a bad roofer or sider that caused the issue. I cannot image Every house had mold though.

Lennar homes and GE have sold appliances that are unacceptable. Top load washer would only partially fill with water. It squealed so loudly that it could be heard out side through the walls. Repair man said that was normal for these appliances. Problem is it didn't...

Lennar - Escrow Price Review from Mooresville, North Carolina

The sales rep at Lennar Homes pulled a bait and switch on us. He quoted a price $15k below the asking price on a nearly finished home. We worked with a lender from Lennar's inhouse mortgage company, who was given the same quote. He prequalified us and gave us the financial sheets showing all of the escrow costs, apr rate, etc. 24 hours later we were ready to put down the deposit and sign the paperwork. This is when we find out that they've upped the price $11k on us. The salesman made it sound like it was done because we couldn't close in two weeks time, but needed a 60 day escrow. He was not apologetic at all; said it was their right to change the price at any time. He refused to give us the number to his supervisor and then gave us a fake number to the corporate office. We feel this was a bait and switch. We chose to walk away. If a company can be this unethical before we even sign the papers, how horribly will the rest of the process go? We will never look at a Lennar community again.

I find this difficult to believe. Having been in the Real Estate Industry for over 30 years, and never worked for Lennar, I can say that if this went off as you describe, you would have reported it to the governing Depts that are available to you.

No one can change prices if you had SIGNED a Purchase Contract.

Any changes after that would require SIGNED Addendums by both you and Seller/Builder.

Sounds like sour grapes

Lennar Colonial Heritage has the wisdom to fire subcontractors and managers and then hire these incompetents back. The houses look good but are not and fall apart fast. At Colonial Heritage the main problem is rain water runoff, the place floods with a simple light...
